7.2. Newsletter

Admin uses this function to create and manage newsletters

Newsletters Listings screen

Fields:

Newsletter Name – the name that refers to this newsletter, as it will appear in all newsletter-related dropdown lists.

Newsletter Subject – the title of the newsletter, as it will appear in the subject line of the newsletter email

Publish – the newsletter was published or not

Actions:

Send Newsletter – lets you manually send one or more newsletters at a time and customize various aspects of the newsletter’s delivery; select the checkboxes next to the names of the newsletters to be sent and click on this button

Copy - lets you duplicate a newsletter, simply check the checkboxes next to the names of the newsletters that should be duplicated and click on copy

New - takes you to the add newsletter screen where you can create a new newsletter

Edit - takes you to the edit newsletter screen where you can modify an existing newsletter's details. The screen can be reached either by clicking on the newsletter name or clicking on the checkbox next to their name followed by the edit button

Delete - removes the newsletter and the list of all related subscribers from the database, this is a permanent delete

Publish - lets you set newsletters to be active and available for signup and distribution, with either single or multiple newsletter records selected for publishing

Unpublish - lets you disable newsletters in batch so they are unavailable for signup and not being distributed, with either single or multiple product newsletter selected for unpublishing

Newsletter Details screen

Fields:

Name – sets the name that refers to this newsletter, as it will appear in all newsletter-related dropdown lists

Subject – sets the title of the newsletter, as it will appear in the subject line of the newsletter

Newsletter Body – a space to fill in the contents of the newsletter, in other words the body of the message that will be sent in the email; you can use text, images, HTML, and even call specific email-triggered Joomla! Related plugins for the content, and there are newsletter specific tags listed at the bottom of the screen

Template – sets the template that will be used to display the newsletter on the front-end using the “Newsletter” menu item to link to it (Select: from available newsletters)

Publish - sets whether this newsletter is available for selection and mailing; unpublishing will hide it and mails related to it will no longer be sent (Available options:Yes, No)

Actions:

(1) Apply - saves any changes made and refreshes the page

(2) Save - saves any changes made and redirects to the listing screen

(3) Cancel - returns to the listing screen without saving any changes

Newsletter Subscriber Listings screen

Fields:

Newsletter Username – displays the username of the newsletter

Newsletter subscriber date – displays the date when newsletter subscriber was added

Newsletter – displays the newsletter title


Filter:

By Newsletter Username

By Newsletter subscriber date

By Newsletter


Actions:

Import – Admin can import subscriber from CSV files

Export – Admin can export subscriber into CSV or Excel files

New – Adds new newsletter subscriber

Edit – Chooses newsletter subscriber by checking on checkbox and then edits the subscriber

Delete – Chooses newsletter subscribers by checking on checkboxes and then deletes current subscribers

Publish

Unpublish

Fields:

Select Newsletter user

Select Newsletter

Newsletter Subscriber date

Newsletter Subscriber Email

Publish


Actions:

Save – saves any changes of newsletter subscriber

Save & Close – saves any changes of newsletter subscriber and redirects to newsletter subscriber listings screen

Cancel – Redirects to newsletter subscriber listings screen

Newsletter Statistics: Makes statistics of newsletters were sent
