Types of discounts available


Discount-related settings

Overview of the Discounts section

Order Total Discounts Listing screen

Fields:
Order Total - the total value that the order must come for this discount to take affect
Condition - the rule that states whether the discount applies when the customer's order is lower than, equal to or higher than the value set for order total
Discount Type - the way in which the discount will be applied, considered as a specific amount, or total, to be reduced from the order or as a certain percentage off the total order value
Discount amount - the value that redSHOP will use to apply the discount; set the value of the flat price if the discount type is set the total, or set the value as a percentage in decimal format automatically calculates and reduce the value of the discount
Published - sets whether this discount rule is in effect, unpublish to turn it off.


Actions:
New - takes you to the add discount screen where you can add a new discount to put on offer
Edit - takes you to the edit discount screen where you can modify an existing discount's details. The screen can be reached either by clicking on the discount name or clicking on the checkbox next to their name followed by the edit button
Delete - removes the discount from the product catalog, this is a permanent delete
Publish - lets you set discounts to be made available for usage in batch, with either single or multiple discounts selected for publishing
Unpublish - lets you disable and prevent discounts from being available in batch, with either single or multiple discounts selected for unpublishing


Order Total Discounts Details screen

Fields:
Order Total - sets the total value that the order must come for this discount to take affect
Condition - sets the rule that states whether the discount applies when the customer's order is lower than, equal to or higher than the value set for order total (Select: Lower, Equals, Higher)
Discount Type - sets the way in which the discount will be applied, considered as a specific amount, or total, to be reduced from the order or as a certain percentage off the total order value (Select: Total, Percentage)
Discount amount - the value that redSHOP will use to apply the discount; set the value of the flat price if the discount type is set the total, or set the value as a percentage in decimal format automatically calculates and reduce the value of the discount
Discount Start Date - indicates the date when the discount price should start being offered, left blank by default indicating that the discount price is on offer indefinitely; to set the date, click on the calendar icon and select the date using the pop-up calendar, and to remove it simply highlight and delete the stored date
Discount End Date - indicates the date when the promotional discount price should stop being offered, left blank by default indicating that the discount price is on offer indefinitely; to set the date, click on the calendar icon and select the date using the pop-up calendar, and to remove it simply highlight and delete the stored date
Shopper Groups - sets the shopper groups that customers must be a part of for them to be eligible for this discount (MSelect: Default Private, Default Company, Default Tax Exempt)
Published - sets whether this discount rule is in effect, unpublish to turn it off.

Apply - saves any changes made and refreshes the page
Save - saves any changes made and redirects to the listing screen
Cancel - returns to the listing screen without saving any changes



Product Price Discounts Listing screen

Fields:
Product Price - the price that the products eligible for this discount have to be valued at
Condition - the rule that states whether the discount applies when the product's normal price is lower than, equal to or higher than the value set for "Product Price"
Discount Type - the way in which the discount will be applied, considered as a specific amount, or total, to be reduced from the order or as a certain percentage off the total order value

Area-based Discounts Listing screen

Area-based Discounts Details screen

Fields:
Area Start - the area code indicating the starting boundary of the range of zip codes that the discount applies to
Area End - the area code indicating the ending boundary of the range of zip codes that the discount applies to
Discount Type - the way in which the discount will be applied, considered as a specific amount, or total, to be reduced from the order or as a certain percentage off the total order value (Select: Total, Percentage)

Category - sets the categories of products that this discount is eligible for; click the category name to group the product into that category, or hold down the control key on the keyboard and click on multiple names to group it into multiple categories
Product Search box - an Ajax-powered input box from where you can look up products to add as related products; type at least three characters that appear in the name of the product you're looking for and wait a moment for a drop-down panel with related search results to appear, then click on the name of the product to select it.
Product List - a list of all the individual products that this discount is eligible for and two buttons to manage them: the -> button will add a product to the list and the <- button will remove it.
Published - sets whether this discount rule is in effect, unpublish to turn it off.


Actions:
Apply - saves any changes made and refreshes the page
Save - saves any changes made and redirects to the listing screen
Cancel - returns to the listing screen without saving any changes


Where each type can be used

All active discounts in redSHOP work in the background and have an immediate effect on all prices for which rules have been set; you will see the effect of all the discount rules that you apply through all discounts related tags that appear on your product, category, manufacturer and cart pages.
